Bridge in Stoughton…really?

Fringe - 102 Same Old Story | Fumbles | Posted by Scully

O.K. So let’s talk about the bridge.  Astrid said she recognized it - that it was in Stoughton and it was called Sergeant Bridge.  I did my research…there is no bridge in Stoughton by that name, or anywhere else in Massachusetts.  As a matter of fact, I couldn’t find a bridge in any of the states with that name. Second of all, Stoughton is a landlocked town.  No water…no bridge.  There’s no railway bridges, no toll bridges and definitely no canal or river bridges.  That begs the question…what bridge is it?  Here is the bridge…

After a few hours on the internet, I found it.  It’s the Williamsburg  Bridge in New York City, connecting the Lower East side of Manhattan to Williamsburg on Long Island.

O.K., I thought…no big deal…they just grabbed a picture of a bridge and went with it.  But then Astrid announce that triangulation makes the viewer standing on Bond Street.  Guess what folks…threre’s no Bond St. in Stoughton…or Massachusetts, but there is one in New York !!!!!  So now I’m thinking maybe they meant New York and the fumble was actually saying ‘Stoughton’, so I used that as a jumping off point and investigated.

The image of bridge and target point as seen on Astrid’s computer is on the left.  Notice that it is sitting right next to the water and perpendicular to the bridge.  That would be perfect positioning to get the perpendicular viewpoint that the original image shows.  Now look at the actual layout of the bridge and the target point (in New York)…need I say more?
