Here are the rest of the clues and Easter Eggs discovered in Episode 204 - “Momentum Deferred”

- J.J. Abrams’ and Bad Robot’s favorite frozen beverage, Slusho! made another guest appearance…Slusho has also been seen in the Fringe episode ‘The Road Not Taken’, and in the Fringe Season 2 promotional poster - not to mention in Alias, Cloverfield, Heroes, and Star Trek.

- Elias Cryogenics: Elias is the middle name of Walt Disney (who, according to urban legend, had his body cryogenically frozen).

- The actor, Roger R. Cross, who plays a member of the shape-shifter group call “The first wave”, played a major role in a television series of the same name.  Thanks to Cyberprimate for this tidbit.

There are some other Easter Eggs that I will put in a separate post after I have had a chance to watch this episode frame by frame…but I wanted to get these up because the graffiti was just to cool!  It reminds me of the poster they released this summer.

It’s also interesting to note that this is the same graffiti seen in Episode 202, and it was also the Next Episode Clue for 203.

This is my best guess this week for an Observer sighting.  It could be just the back of some dude, but I didn’t see him anywhere else.  If anyone has a better option…let me know.

Here is what I and others have found for Easter Eggs in Episode 203-Fracture.

- Walter says “I stopped counting at 47” in reference to the needle holes in Officer Gillespie.  JJ loves that number.

- Officer Joan Klump is named after Post Production Supervisor John Klump.

- A Star Wars reference “Can you just cut the Yoda crap and tell me what’s happening to me.”

- A Wizard of Oz reference - Project Tin Man

- This isn’t so much an Easter Egg, but Walter foreshadowed the fringe science of this episode in The Road Not Taken, with his comment - “Matter is just energy waiting to happen. The average adult at rest contains enough potential energy to explode with the force of five very large hydrogen bombs.”

- A huge thanks goes out to David Wu of Fringemunks for this discovery. William Bell says ‘War is Coming’.

- We were correct last week in thinking that the Van Gogh portrait might be the next episode clue. It is well known that he cut off his own ear, and this week we see the severed ear that Walter is holding.

With the help of some very observant Fringe fans, I have compiled a list of Easter Eggs for Episode 202 - Night of Desirable Objects.  Once again, I apologize to the fans and all of the writers for claiming that they were not fulfilling my weekly need for puzzles. I think I was just rusty after a long summer with no puzzles to solve.  (Although I still stand by my complaint about the viral sites and Walter’s lab notes).

- A huge thanks goes out to fm11 for this tidbit.  The house used as the Hughes house was also used in two episodes of ‘X-Files - S2E12 ‘Aubrey’ and S4E02 ‘Home’.  Here are the shots of the Hughes house, as well as shots from both X-Files episodes.  Looks like the same house to me…with a face lift, of course.  Is it a shout-out or just a coincidence?  X-Files was also filmed in Vancouver…you be the judge.

On the back of my long winded complaint about how there are very little Easter Eggs in the first two Episodes, I should take the time to review the few things I did find, and the things that have been pointed out to me by others.  Thanks to the help of other devoted fans, I have discovered that there are a lot more Easter Eggs in this episode than I thought.  I officially apologize for jumping the gun.

- The first thing I should mention is that the title sequence has changed a little this year.  Last year the list of Fringe Sciences that were written on the screen were as follows: “Psychokinesis, Teleportation, Nanotechnology, Dark Matter, Cybernetics, Suspended Animation, Artificial Intelligence, Precognition, Psychokinesis, and Transmogrification“.  This year, the Fringe Sciences that are written on the screen are as follows: “Astral Projection, Protoscience, Mutation, Hypnosis, Pyrokinesis, Hive Mind, ESP, Neurosciece, Clairaudience, Cryonics, Parallel Universes,  and Genetic Engineering“.

One of the reasons that I fell in love with ‘Fringe’ last year was the intentional placement of Easter Eggs throughout the episodes.  Little things that would make no difference in the story-line to someone who is just watching the show for entertainment value, but make the show like a treasure hunt for those who are watching more closely.  There is nothing more satisfying than picking up on something that has been hidden in the background for us to find.

Here are just a few of the Easter Eggs we found last season:

Last year, the episodes were riddled with these little hidden shout-outs and clues, not only to the episode currently playing, but to the upcoming episode and to the overall plot of the show.  The next episode clues were one of my favorite things to look for every week.  Find the clue, find the observer, crack the code, figure out the meaning…etc.  What a trip to take in just one short hour.

After watching the first two episodes of this season over and over again, I am really starting to have some concerns.  Either I am really losing my touch, or they simply aren’t putting the Easter Eggs there anymore. OK, so the Observer and commercial break glyphs are still there, but that’s not enough for me.

Let’s face it folks…they have utterly failed us in the department of viral sites, leaving us with only the show to concentrate on.  We apparently, have already lost Walter’s lab notes, which was a huge source of hidden information and clues, and now it seems that the Next Episode Clues and the rest of the Easter Eggs are almost non-existent as well. I am not talking about the obvious clues to broader things, I am talking about the little things that only you and I would notice.  The things that get us searching on the internet for meaning and relevance.  The things that cause us to bang our heads against the wall.  I love that crap.  I miss that crap.  I NEED that crap.  Without that crap…Fringe is only a couple steps above a long list of sci-fi shows starring creature of the week, killer of the week and an occasional mystery thrown in for good measure.

Don’t get me wrong…I am a devoted fan.  It would take a whole lot to get me to stop watching…but I have to admit that without the extras, my enthusiasm does die just a little bit.  Not to mention that it leaves me very little to blog about, except complaints.

I am trying to stay positive…maybe I am just not seeing them…so now I shout out to all of you…

WHAT AM I MISSING?

I should take a minute to note that there has been an X-Files shout-out, one instance of the number ‘42′, a daisy, a frog and a few possibles that I will post about later.  So there has been a couple of things, but not the caliber of last season’s Easter Eggs.

I had wanted to write something about Peter’s coin, but truth was, I didn’t have any good theories and I hadn’t done any research yet.  Then I got an email from Di - she was reading my mind, me thinks.  She has done the research and I am intrigued with the connections she made, so I have decided to let her take this one.  By her own words, this might be more coincidence than theory, but I like it anyways.

The coin is an out of use ‘Walking Liberty’ 50c coin used in the US from 1916 to 1946/7. It’s considered the best designed coin so far, and was designed by a German sculptor named A.A. Weinman, born in 1870 who arrived at the US at age 10 [in 1880]. More German references perhaps? That’d been brought up before. Also, the context behind the coin, as I found it on the coin resource site, makes references to Woodrow Wilson, who won re-election on 1916 with his campaign with the slogan ‘He kept us out of war!’, but within a few months, the war broke out anyways.
