Peter’s Mom Blind?
Fringe - 120 There's More Than One Of Everything | Theories & Speculation | Posted by ScullyWhen reviewing some of the comments, I came across one by pr3sidentspence…
“What’s up with the braille anyway?
I doubt is was used to be some easy to break code.
One of the recent glyph codes was VISION. I wonder if someone in the show will be blinded?”
.
I agreed with this observation. Why braille? Did they think nobody would crack that? Maybe for the viral/ARG that they ran last summer, no problem. But now they have started a new viral/ARG and they are still using the braille. It’s signifigant, it has to be. But why?
.
Then I remembered something from Episode 120. Something about the picture of Peter with his Mom and Walter.
.
She is wearing sunglasses. When I first saw this photo, I assumed they were purposely obscuring the mother because they haven’t cast anyone in that role yet. But what if that’s not the case. It looks to me like this picture was taken indoors, and it looks like a formal family photo, so there doesn’t seem to me, to be any other reason for her to be wearing sunglasses, unless she is blind.
.
Was her blindness an accident? Or maybe a side effect of one of Walter’s experiments? Maybe she was born blind, and Walter was trying to find a way to cure it. There must be significance to her blindness, otherwise, why bother?
.
Is it possible that Peter’s Mom is a major player? Maybe she will be revealed to us next year in the way William Bell was revealed to us this year. What team will she be on? What will her role be? Where has she been all this time? Did she know Peter wasn’t Peter?
.
So many questions…any ideas anybody? Can anyone think of any moments in the show that might confirm or refute this theory?

Yes, really seems she was/is blind … and if she really is/was, she probably realized Peter was not her Peter … you know what I mean.
anyway .. more history to come !

Maybe is her voice talking to Bell about that incident … who knows ?

To begin with– wow! I never even noticed that and I have watched the episode at least 3 times since it aired the first time. Good catch, Scully. This theory could explain a lot given that Peter essentially abandoned all contact with his father for so long. I can’t think of any particular moments offhand that confirm or deny, but I will be on the lookout from now on.

Hey Scully, are you also “Fringeling” over at “one of the other forums”? This exact theory and even the same exact screencap were posted “over there” on 5/13 ….

@ ???? – you need a screen name.
I’m familiar with Fringeling, he has a great mind, I’m honored we came up with the same theory. I used to be a member “over there”, but when they found out who I was, they blocked my IP so I can’t even view the site now. That’s why I deleted the link. Links to anywhere else…no prob…images…no prob. As for the screencap, just a coincidence, I guess. I always use my own screencaps.
PS: Please don’t be offended that I deleted the image of the timeline that you posted, but I have really worked hard on mine, and I want to finish it on my own. I do like the idea of a downloadable image of the timeline, and I think I will design my own after all of the sections have been posted.
Once again, thanks for all of your comments and I hope to still hear from you.

@ Scully why did they block you. Were your theories too radical for them?

@ Jo: way back at the beginning of the season. Whenever I had a theory or found a clue, I would post here and there. I used the screencaps from here that had this webs address on it. What I didn’t realize at the time was, they had a sister website, which is also a Fringe Blog.
So, I was their competition, and I didn’t even know it.
Oh well. Now I post at Fringe Science, which is a new forum, but hopefully next season it will be booming.

That’s cool about the Timeline and stuff Scully — and yeah I should pick a screen-name. I’ll stick with *Bradbury*
That’s too bad about the posting block at the other forum — you have great contributions. But your blog is really nice, well laid out, and full of interesting stuff to give anyone a good Fringe-fix, so “you got your own thang goin”
And I’m surprised you haven’t read the comics. Talk about something that will get your theory juices flowing, those suckers are full throttle Fringe all the way. And they are supposed to be considered cannon, and their releases are timed with the seasons’ episodes releases (and you can see the relations between them if you examine when they are released with what episode is about to play or was just played). I can’t wait until next week when #5 comes out!

Well Hellooooooo Bradbury! haha
I have two of the comics but I missed the release of the first couple of issues. There is only one comic store in my area, and they haven’t been able to get any back issues for me. I am still working on another source, but until I have all of them, I don’t want to read any of them. It would be like starting half way through a book.
It’s really pissing me off because there is a big part of the Fringe story that I feel I’m not getting. There’s probably all kinds of clues in there.
As soon as I can get my hands on them, I will start a new category just for the comics.

Definitely got to get/read the comics, Scully. I’ve found some of them on the internet– scans of them anyway. They have so much backstory to them and as you said many hints and clues. Beg, borrow or steal them– you will kick yourself if you don’t.
