Walter’s mnemonic

Easter Eggs | Fringe - 110 Safe | Walter's Lab Notes | Posted by Scully

In Walter’s lab notes for this week he notes:

I know the rule: ‘cannot build phallic puzzles inside the lab.’  I still know the numbers, too — well I damn well should, it’s a simple second-order recursive algorithm — but a mnemonic is worthless without it’s contents.”

This had me reeling for what the mnemonic ‘CBPPITL‘ stood for…then, I realized, they told us some of it in the episode…the cities where the banks were robbed.  They are even in the order of the corresponding Fibonacci numbers, which would be the numbers Walter refers to in his lab notes.

So the question is…what about ‘ITL“  I Googled US cities starting with those letters, but there were too many to count and nothing jumped out at me.  ‘L’ could be London…we know Walter was born in England, so he has been there.  Nina was in London at the end of the episode, and I believe MD and Jones are in a race to get the remainder of the pieces (as per Nina’s comment)…

“Not to place any undue pressure on you and your team, but we’re in a race against highly motivated individuals.”

so maybe London is a fair guess.  My question with that is, if they only have four of seven pieces and the device can already transport someone from one place to another…what would the remaining pieces do?  It might be that with all of the pieces, the device can transport someone through time as well.

Just a theory, but maybe some of those memories that transferred from John to Olivia were the ones containing the whereabouts of those other banks.  That would certainly explain why Jones wants her so badly, and why Nina has been so desperate to find specific memories of John’s.  If this is the case, then it takes me back to a theory of John Scott being in cahoots with Jones.  How else would Jones know at least four of the locations already?  How did John Scott know the locations…Walter swears he told no one.  Back to another theory involving Summoner stealing memories from Walter while he was in the asylum.

As much as theories tend to come around and meet each other in a brilliantly imagined flow…they are just theories, and I can’t wait to see if any of these ones pan out.

London sounds plausible, but maybe the ITL literally means, “inside the lab.” Meaning the last piece is inside the lab.

Also, maybe we should see if the next one, or three, numbers show up anywhere in the shows: 1597, 2584, 4181.

Inside the lab…I like it. It could be hidden in one of the walls, or underneath the stairs of the half floor. I love this theory…good work Mike.
