I think i know why peter was the clue here. That might be who Walter was talking to in the lab. The little boy Peter was running around playing and he couldn’t concentrate. Like most parents who take their kids to work.
This could give a clue to the man in the institution Walter is aware of more than this universe/time space. Hmmmm
